Admissions Process
Benton Hall Academy
Admissions for Learning Support Students: How to Apply
When your child needs learning support, the admissions process should feel clear and respectful. You should not have to guess what comes next or worry that you are "doing it wrong."
At Benton Hall Academy, admissions is designed to help families determine fit. We want to understand your child's strengths, learning needs, and the supports that help them thrive.
Support varies by student. During admissions, we review records and meet with families to confirm fit and plan supports.
How it works
Request a tour
Start by calling or submitting the tour request form. A tour is the best way to see the environment and ask questions about support, class structure, and day-to-day routines.
Parent/Guardian Conversation
After your tour request, we will schedule time to talk about:
- What you are seeing at school right now
- Where your child feels confident and where they struggle
- Any diagnoses, plans, or evaluations (IEP, 504, ADHD, dyslexia, autism, anxiety, etc.)
- What has worked in the past and what has not
- Your goals for the next school year
Records Review
Records help us understand patterns and identify supports that reduce barriers. Helpful documents include:
- Most recent IEP or 504 plan (if applicable)
- Psychoeducational testing or evaluations (if available)
- Recent report cards and/or transcripts
- Teacher comments, progress reports, or intervention history
- Recommendations from outside providers (if applicable)
If you do not have everything, do not worry. Share what you have and we will guide you.
Student visit (if applicable)
Many schools find it helpful for a student to visit so the environment feels familiar and we can understand what helps the student engage best. If a student visit is part of your process, we will explain what that looks like and how to prepare.
Enrollment Decision and Onboarding
If Benton Hall Academy is a fit and there is space available, we will guide you through enrollment and next steps. Families can expect clear communication and a focus on helping students transition smoothly, understand expectations, and build routines that support learning.
Next Steps: Tour Request + Records Review
A tour helps you see the environment and ask questions. After the tour, we can guide you on the next best steps and which records would be most helpful to review.
